Magickal Tools - The Chalice
The chalice is also known as many things including the grail, the gobblet, the cup, and more. It a tool of water and represents that female divine (the Goddess). It is used in ritual to hold the wine or mead to be drank afterwards or to hold water as a symbol of the element itself.
At first thought, the chalice may seem to be the most difficult tool to get. I mean, it is really hard to make one, right? And you don't just go into Wal-Mart and ask for a chalice and expect to get something more than a plastic wine glass, right? Well, mostly...
In my search for my chalice, I was told to try antique shops, thrift stores, GoodWill, and all that stuff. I went to an antique mall in my town and found a really nice, brass chalice but the thing was like $20. I'm not a rich person so I wasn't going to spend so much for a relatively small chalice so my search went on. Then I went into a dollar store in my town (Dollar General), which is where I get lots of my candles and incenses, to get a few candles. They didnt' have anything I needed or wanted, so my girlfriend and I wandered around the store for a bit and I was like "I wonder if they have anything that could be a chalice" and I looked and there it was! They had BEAUTIFUL, large, glass chalices for only $1. I just freaked right then and there and bought it.
About a week or so later, I was in a nearby town at Roses' (the store, of course), and I saw a chalice that was basically the same except it was stained black. It was only $1, too. I was going to get that one just so I'd have a choice, but I decided not to. At least now I know where to get one, right?
Now that I've told you how to find a chalice for cheap, go look! Odds are, you'd be as shocked as I was at what you can find in a dollar store. If you have no luck, though, here are some links to places online where you can buy one:
