It is used to cleanse tools and to cast the circle in some cases. It is normally sea salt, but other salt can be used. Do not used Iodized salt! Use plain salt from a store if you can't use or don't want to use seal salt. I use salt that's like $0.30 at Food Lion for mine. Its cheap and works so why not? You can use any bowl or container for it that you wish. I use little white custard dishes for my bowls and they work really well. They're cheap and do the same job as more cumbersome and more expensive bowls that you will find in occult shoppes. I won't include links on where to buy sea salt online because they can be found in your local grocery stores. And if sea salt isn't, I'm sure regular salt is!
